The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Freidenrich’s responses. Expand all | Collapse all Who are you? Tell us about yourself. I am the current Elected Treasurer-Tax Collector and have run unopposed in the 2014, 2018 and 2022 elections. I have saved taxpayers almost $1 Billion in the last 15 years since being elected in 2010. I am the only CPA in the race and also am a highly credentialed individual with four specialized certifications relating to government public funds and treasury operations. I work for taxpayers and strive to perform my duties defined in state law in a common sense, efficient and cost-effective manner. Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office? I am a CPA and again endorsed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC and by the OC Taxpayers Association PAC (endorsed in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 elections). I am also again endorsed by the California Women’s Leadership Association and recommended in a variety of voter guides. In this non-partisan positions, I have cut government waste by saving taxpayers’ dollars by almost $1 Billion in the last 15 years while in Office working for the people of the OC. As the Tax Collector, I eliminated over 40,000 property tax bills annually for small businesses after I determined that it was costing us more to process and bill them then the taxes billed and saved them up to $3.2 million annually in property taxes. Taxpayers regularly tell me how easy it is to use our property tax website at TaxBill@octreasurer.gov, where we have a guest payment option, have 16 years of property tax bills online, an online statement and payment history, links to a GIS map with information your property, and links to check for title fraud. As your Treasurer-Tax Collector, my goal is to safeguard public funds and have never lost a dime of principal in the last 30 years I have worked for you. I am the banker for the County and for the School and Community College Districts and receive and pay out all public funds. I collect property taxes on behalf of over 200 local agencies in the County. I increased the property tax collection rate by 1.7% to a state record high of 99.4% and currently have the highest secured property tax collection rate when compared to our peer counties. This benefits you as a taxpayer as based on the increase in the collection rate, taxpayers save over $12M in annual penalties. A high rate brings in additional cash annually for all local agencies. What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? I am passionate about working and serving the people of Orange County. I have and will continue to implement policies to benefit you and that are also efficient and cost-effective so that your tax dollars go toward needed services provided by local agencies. I recently negotiated a state contract for credit card payment options that reduced service fees for businesses from 2.57% down to 2.25%, expected to save businesses thousands of dollars in service fees.
